Changing Your Plan
Upgrading Your Plan
Can I move to a higher plan before my year is up?
Yes. Subscriptions can be upgraded to a higher plan at any point while your subscription is active — you do not need to wait until your renewal date. The upgrade takes effect immediately after payment is confirmed, and your new subscription term starts from that point for a full year.
What will I pay when I upgrade mid-subscription?
When you upgrade mid-cycle, you pay the difference between the annual fee of the new plan and the prorated value of the time remaining in your current plan.
The calculation works as follows: take the annual fee of the new plan, then subtract the portion of what you already paid that covers the months still ahead in your current cycle. You only pay for the gap between the two plans — not the full price of the new one.
You are on a plan that costs USD 250 per year. After 6 months, you decide to upgrade to a plan that costs USD 500 per year. The prorated credit for the 6 remaining months on your current plan is USD 125. Your upgrade charge is USD 500 − USD 125 = USD 375. After payment, you have access to the new plan for a full year.
How do I upgrade my current subscription plan?
To upgrade your subscription plan, follow these steps:
- Log in at www.intratec.us with your email and password.
- Click on Subscriptions in the left menu.
- Locate the subscription you want to upgrade and click Upgrade Plan.
- Select the new plan and proceed through the checkout.
Upon payment confirmation, you will immediately gain access to the features of the new plan. Your new subscription term begins at that point and lasts for one full year.
Downgrading Your Plan
Can I switch to a cheaper plan before renewal?
You cannot directly switch to a lower plan mid-subscription. Intratec does not offer in-cycle downgrades. To move to a cheaper plan, you must cancel your current subscription and purchase a new one at the lower plan after the current billing period ends.
Your access continues until the end of the current billing cycle after cancellation — you are not cut off immediately. However, no refund is issued for the remaining time on your current subscription.
How does downgrading a subscription work?
Downgrading to a lower plan is a two-step process — there is no direct in-cycle downgrade option.
- Cancel your current subscription. This stops the auto-renewal, but your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
- After the billing period ends and your access expires, purchase a new subscription and select the lower plan and coverage of your choice.
Cancelling your current subscription means giving up auto-renew. When you re-subscribe, the price you pay will reflect the rates in effect at that time, which may be higher than what you currently pay.
Will I lose access if I cancel to switch to a lower plan?
Not immediately. When you cancel a subscription, your access continues through the remainder of the current billing period — you are not locked out on the day you cancel. Once the billing period ends, access stops and does not resume until you purchase a new subscription.
No refund is provided for the time remaining after cancellation, so it is worth timing your cancellation close to the end of the billing cycle if you want to make the most of your remaining access.
Plan Change Considerations
Will my price change when I re-subscribe at a lower plan?
When you cancel and re-subscribe to a lower plan, the price you pay will be whatever is in effect at the time of the new purchase. Intratec adjusts subscription fees from time to time, which means the lower-plan price may be higher than it was when you first subscribed.
Subscribers who keep their subscription on auto-renew with a credit card or PayPal benefit from fee stability — their renewal price is not adjusted while the subscription remains active. Cancelling and re-purchasing removes that protection.
What happens to unused time if I upgrade mid-year?
The unused time on your current plan is not lost — it is converted into a prorated credit that reduces what you owe for the upgrade.
Specifically, the upgrade charge equals the annual fee of the new plan minus the prorated value of the months you have remaining in your current cycle. You pay only the incremental difference, not the full price of the new plan. After paying, your new subscription term runs for one full year from the upgrade date.
You are 6 months into a plan costing USD 250 per year. You upgrade to a plan costing USD 500 per year. The 6 remaining months of your current plan are worth USD 125. Your upgrade charge is USD 500 − USD 125 = USD 375, and your access to the new plan lasts a full year from the upgrade date.
Can I change my plan coverage (e.g., add an industry)?
Coverage — such as the industries included in a Primary Commodity Prices subscription or the countries covered in an Energy Prices & Markets subscription — is selected when you purchase or re-purchase a subscription. Each subscription plan (Starter, Pro, Advanced) has a fixed set of available coverage options, and the subscription fee is proportional to the number of coverage units included.
If you need broader coverage, the safest path is to consult with the Intratec team through the contact form to understand your options before making changes.
