Historical Data by Plan
How many years of history can I access?
The amount of historical data you can access depends on your subscription plan. Industry Economics Worldwide offers four tiers of historical depth:
All plans include the current month's data. If your work requires longer time series — for trend analysis, cost modeling, or benchmarking capital costs over time — you will need the Advanced or Ultimate plan to access 10 or 15 years of history respectively.
Historical depth applies uniformly across all three data categories: industrial utilities prices and costs, plant construction cost indexes, and plant location factors.
Do all plans include data for multiple countries?
No — multi-country access depends on your plan. The Starter plan covers a single country only, restricted to the country where the subscription was purchased. The Pro, Advanced, and Ultimate plans all provide access to data across multiple countries, up to the full 33-country coverage.
If your analysis spans more than one country — for example, comparing manufacturing competitiveness between Germany, Brazil, and the United States — you will need at least the Pro plan.
Countries are selected at the time of purchase. You can add countries to an existing subscription at any time by upgrading; the cost is prorated for the remaining billing period.
Are forecasts included with historical data?
Forecasts are included on the Pro, Advanced, and Ultimate plans — but not on the Starter plan. When forecasts are available, they cover a 6-month forward-looking horizon and appear alongside historical data in the same charts and views.
The Starter plan provides only historical data (up to 1 year) and the current month's values. To access forward-looking projections, you need at least the Pro plan.
Can I download historical data as a spreadsheet file?
Downloading data as a ready-to-use spreadsheet file is available on the Ultimate plan only. Each month, a new spreadsheet is published in your user area — log in, navigate to Your Products, and download the latest file.
This feature is not available on Starter, Pro, or Advanced plans. Subscribers on those plans can view and interact with data through online charts, and Advanced and Ultimate subscribers can also retrieve data programmatically via the Excel Add-In, Power BI, or the API.
Is historical data available through the API?
Yes — the Industry Economics Worldwide REST API provides access to both current data and the full historical archives covered by your plan. If you subscribe to the Advanced plan (10 years of history) or the Ultimate plan (15 years), the API can return that entire archive.
API access is available on the Advanced and Ultimate plans only. The Advanced plan includes 1 API user with 10 to 500 requests per country per month; the Ultimate plan supports up to 20 API users with 500 or more requests per country per month.
All three automation methods — Excel Add-In, Power BI, and the API — draw from the same monthly request pool. Managing requests across methods helps you avoid exhausting your allowance.
Can I pull historical data into Excel automatically?
Yes — the Intratec Excel Add-In retrieves historical data automatically, not just current values. When you refresh your spreadsheet, the Add-In pulls the full data series covered by your plan: up to 10 years on the Advanced plan or 15 years on the Ultimate plan.
The Excel Add-In is available on the Advanced and Ultimate plans only. Starter and Pro subscribers would need to upgrade to access this feature. Once set up, the Add-In refreshes with zero manual data entry — your existing Excel models stay current automatically each time new data is published.
Each refresh consumes from your monthly data request allowance, which is shared across the Excel Add-In, Power BI, and the API.
Does Power BI give access to the full history?
Yes — the Intratec Power BI integration surfaces the complete historical depth available under your subscription plan. On the Advanced plan you get up to 10 years of history; on the Ultimate plan, up to 15 years. The pre-configured .pbix project files connect directly to your subscription data with no setup required.
Power BI access is available on the Advanced and Ultimate plans only. The dashboards are provided as open-source files, so you can customize them or extend them to meet your specific reporting needs.
Power BI requests draw from the same monthly data request allowance as the Excel Add-In and the API. Each refresh counts toward your per-country monthly limit.
