We serve organizations across nine core segments — from energy companies and chemical manufacturers to banks, consultancies, and academic institutions.
The following types of organizations use Intratec data and analyses:
- Oil, Gas, Energy & Utilities — Companies in energy generation, oil and gas extraction, refining, and utility provision.
- Basic Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturers — Producers of foundational chemicals and petrochemicals used as raw materials across industries.

Do chemical manufacturers use Intratec?
Chemical and petrochemical manufacturers are among the core user segments. Both Basic Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturers and Specialty Chemicals Manufacturers use Intratec solutions for:
- Price benchmarking — Independent price data from Primary Commodity Prices to validate contract formulas, track market trends, and support procurement and sales decisions.
- Production cost analysis — CAPEX and OPEX reports from Commodity Production Costs to evaluate manufacturing economics, compare production technologies, and benchmark against competitors.
- Investment and location screening — Cross-country cost comparisons for deciding where to build or expand facilities.
These companies span roles across procurement, sales, strategy, cost engineering, and R&D — all of which benefit from independent, auditable commodity data.
Is Intratec used by trading and distribution firms?
Trading & Distribution is one of the nine company segments served. These organizations use Intratec data primarily for price benchmarking and market intelligence.
Primary Commodity Prices provides independent price benchmarks grounded in official government trade data — useful for validating trade pricing, supporting contract negotiations, and assessing procurement performance across regions. Short-term price forecasts (available on Pro, Advanced, and Ultimate plans) also support inventory and sourcing decisions.
Energy Prices & Markets adds country-level energy price data, trade flows, and freight and insurance cost data that supports logistics planning and distribution analysis.
Do banks or investors use Intratec data?
Banks & Financial Institutions are an established segment. These organizations use Intratec as an independent, auditable data source for investment analysis, risk assessment, and financing of industrial projects. Typical use cases include:
- Due diligence — Production cost reports from Commodity Production Costs to assess the economic viability of commodity-related projects and investments.
- Financial modeling — Price benchmarks and multi-year historical trends from Primary Commodity Prices as inputs to valuation and scenario models.
- Capital budgeting — Plant construction cost indexes and location factors from Industry Economics Worldwide for cross-country CAPEX estimation.
The independence and auditability of our data are particularly relevant for financial institutions that require unbiased third-party sources to support lending or investment decisions.
Is Intratec suitable for consulting firms?
Consulting firms and information service providers are among the segments we serve, and the right plan depends on how the data will be used.
Consulting firms that use data exclusively for internal analysis — where data informs client recommendations but is not shared directly with clients — can purchase standard subscription plans. Firms whose core activity involves sharing Intratec data with third parties (for example, delivering Intratec data as part of a client deliverable or integrating it into a product) are not eligible for standard licenses and must request an Ultimate Plan.
The Ultimate Plan is specifically designed for consulting companies, service providers, and software developers that need third-party sharing rights and data integration capabilities. It includes REST Web API access, up to 20 API users, and flexible licensing terms.
Can academic or government institutions buy from Intratec?
Government organizations, NGOs, and academic institutions are among the nine company segments served. These organizations use data for policy-making, research, and economic analysis.
Intratec operates as a B2B business, so purchases must be made by individuals acting on behalf of a company or organization — a business email is required. Academic and government institutions qualify as organizations under this policy and can create accounts and purchase products.
Under standard subscription license terms, educational and nonprofit businesses may purchase the Starter plan. Access to Pro and Advanced plans requires a non-standard arrangement. For Commodity Production Costs reports, academic and nonprofit libraries are not eligible to purchase under standard license terms.
Does Intratec serve companies of all sizes?
Intratec serves organizations of all sizes. The product structure is designed to scale from single-industry subscriptions for local businesses to enterprise-grade plans for global companies and data integrators.
The subscription plan tiers for Primary Commodity Prices reflect this range:
Commodity Production Costs reports are purchased individually starting at $799 per report, with volume discounts of up to 30% for multi-report purchases — making them accessible to organizations with targeted, one-time needs as well as large teams running multiple analyses.
