Terms and Conditions

Key provisions of Intratec's subscription and license agreements, including eligibility and usage rules.

License Scope & Eligibility

Who can legally purchase an Intratec license?

To purchase an Intratec license, the buyer must act on behalf of a legally constituted business entity. The purchasing business must be clearly identified by its full legal name and address, and the individual making the purchase must provide their full name and use a business email address associated with that business's domain. The business must also have a verifiable website.

These requirements apply to both subscription products and individual report purchases. Individuals not acting on behalf of a legal entity are not eligible to purchase any Intratec license. Intratec also reserves the right to refuse to sell any kind of license to any business at any time, at its own discretion.

Can individuals buy access, or is it business-only?

Access to Intratec products is available to businesses only. Individuals not acting on behalf of a legal entity — such as sole traders without a formal business registration, or private persons purchasing for personal use — are not eligible to purchase a license.

This rule applies across all product types: subscription-based products (Primary Commodity Prices, Energy Prices & Markets, Industry Economics Worldwide) and individual reports (Commodity Production Costs). All purchasers must use a business email address associated with a registered business domain; free email domains (such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook) are not accepted.

Freelancers and independent consultants who operate as formally constituted business entities and have a verifiable business website and domain email may be eligible to purchase.

Are consulting or data reseller firms eligible to buy?

Consulting firms, information services companies, and data resellers are not eligible for standard Intratec subscription licenses. The standard license framework explicitly excludes businesses whose core activity involves sharing information with third parties, because standard licenses permit internal use only and prohibit redistribution.

These business types must request a non-standard license from Intratec. Non-standard license terms are evaluated and agreed on a case-by-case basis, overriding only the specific provisions of the general terms that they expressly modify. Intratec retains the right to refuse to sell any kind of license — including non-standard arrangements — to any business at any time.

Rights & Obligations

What am I allowed to do with the data I purchase?

Purchased data may be used for your own internal business purposes only. This means employees within your organization can access, analyze, and reference Intratec data to support internal decision-making, research, and reporting — subject to the sharing limits defined by your subscription plan.

Creating internal content from the data is permitted under the standard license, provided all of the following conditions are met:

  • The amount of Intratec information used in the derived content is insubstantial and de minimis.
  • The derived content is not primarily a copy of the Licensed Materials.
  • No substantial portion of the Licensed Materials is reproduced.
  • Intratec is cited as the source using the statement: Source: Intratec Solutions (www.intratec.us).
  • The derived content is not used in products or services that compete with Intratec products.

What is not permitted under a standard license:

  • Sharing data with third parties outside your organization (or Business Group, for Advanced plan holders).
  • Publishing data externally without prior written consent from Intratec.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or transferring data to any third party.
  • Using data in any product or service that competes with Intratec.
  • Using automated tools to extract or systematically scrape data.
  • Using data or associated metadata to train AI or machine learning models.

Sharing permissions by plan:

Plan Internal Sharing Third-Party Sharing
Starter Employees in the same country Not allowed
Pro All employees (global) Not allowed
Advanced Employees across the entire Business Group Not allowed

For use cases that go beyond internal use — such as integrating data into your own products or sharing with external clients — an Ultimate Plan or non-standard license is required.

Can I use Intratec data to train AI or ML models?

No. Using Intratec data — or any associated metadata — for machine learning or artificial intelligence training, coding, development, or output generation is explicitly prohibited under both the General Subscription Terms & Conditions and the Individual Reports Terms & Conditions.

This prohibition applies to all license types under the standard framework, regardless of subscription plan or report edition.

Agreement Structure

Where can I find Intratec's full terms and conditions?

All of Intratec's legal documents are publicly available and can be accessed through the legal index at:

https://cdn.intratec.us/docs/legal/index.pdf

The index links to the individual documents that make up the agreement framework. The two primary documents for subscription products are:

For individual report purchases, the applicable documents are the Individual Reports Terms & Conditions and the Standard Individual Report License Terms, also accessible through the legal index.

What documents make up the subscription agreement?

A subscription agreement with Intratec is composed of three documents:

  1. Order Form — identifies the commercial and access parameters specific to your subscription, including plan type, coverage, expiration date, delivery method, number of authorized users, and license type.
  2. Subscription License Terms — defines the specific usage rights and restrictions for your license. For most customers, this is the Standard Subscription License Terms document. Customers with special requirements may agree to Non-Standard Subscription License Terms, which override only the specific provisions they expressly modify.
  3. Refund Policy — sets out the terms under which refunds may be issued.

Together, these three documents constitute the full agreement and supersede any prior proposals or communications on the same subject matter.

Can Intratec change its terms without notifying me?

Yes. The General Subscription Terms & Conditions may be updated at any time without prior notice. The latest version is always posted on the Intratec website. By continuing to use a subscription after a change, you are bound by the updated terms.

There is one exception to the no-notice rule: if a product change materially decreases coverage or functionality, Intratec may provide 30 days' prior notice and may offer a pro rata refund, a credit for unused fees, or an alternative product. If a product is discontinued entirely, 3 months' prior email notice may be given.

Suspension & Termination

What happens to my access if my subscription ends?

When a subscription expires without renewal, or is terminated during the active term, all access to Licensed Materials must stop immediately. There is no grace period — authorized users are required to cease use of the data as soon as the subscription ends.

Intratec may also suspend access at any time, without notice and without compensation, if:

  • The account is in default of payment obligations, or
  • Intratec reasonably suspects a breach of the subscription terms.

Any violation of the agreement may result in a fine equal to 50 times the fee paid for the relevant Licensed Material, as well as legal action for resulting damages.

Refunds are not provided upon cancellation. If you cancel before your subscription expires, access continues until the end of the current billing period — but no refund is issued for the remaining time.
